Reading Comprehension - Farming Fish


A - Did I understand??
  1. What happens when the weather is bad? They go to the ponds and catch the fish from their.
  2. How is it we get food, different to the way we get food now? We go to the shops and buy our food and then they collect, grow and catch their food.
  3. What kind of fish were released into the pools? He released Mudfish into the pool
  4. Where is Togori in relation to New Zealand?  On the North - East
  5. How long did it take to dig the pools? One and a half years
  6. Who had the ideas of farming fish? Uncle Isaiah
  7. Explain how they catch the fish. The first make sure that the ponds are filled. Then they clear the branches. They then put the Larvae white Ants there so the fish can come.
  8. What have white ant larvae got to do with the article? It’s the food the fishes eat.

  1. How long did it take for the fish to grow? It takes three years
  2. If they started the pools in 2007 when would the pools have been finished? In the middle of the year of 2008

The people in the Togori grow, collect, harvest and catch their food which means they didn’t go to the shops much. They became very smart and made a pool full of fish to eat when the weather is bad because they couldn’t go fishing.
